Kenneth E. Butler, Sr., Pastor Pastor Butler | Message from Our Pastor
Pastor Kenneth E. Butler, Sr. is the second son of Elder & Mrs. James E. Butler, Jr., of Annapolis, MD. Just a few weeks before Apostle Lewis’ death he appointed Pastor Butler to be his successor. Pastor Butler believes that his function at Apostolic House of Prayer Church is that of under shepherd with “JESUS”, The Great I Am, being the Shepherd. In 1973, Pastor Butler became an ordained Deacon at the House of Prayer Church in West River MD. He was the fifth person to become a member of AHOP under Bishop Lewis’ leadership. He served as Sunday School Superintendent and Transportation Director for 15 years. He was ordained an Elder on November 23, 1997. He served as Superintendent of Sunday School at Wynn Memorial Apostolic Church in Mechanicsville, MD with Elder Downs. Pastor Butler married Magnolia Lewis on March 10, 1973 and from their union God blessed them with four children: Kenneth, David, Denise, and Kendall. Pastor Butler joined the US Army in the spring of 1976 and received an honorable discharge on April 4, 1979. At 47, Pastor Butler has already experienced the difficulties that this life can bring. He has a strong desire to minister to the needs of the people. He knows the world does not have the answers, ONLY Jesus does. He works hard at telling people how to obtain that vibrant personal relationship with the Lord; how Jesus can help them to become what He wants them to be; and that through the power of the Holy Spirit, they can learn how to survive in this sin laden world. From his own experiences, God has empowered him to minister to the downtrodden, those who have allowed Satan to control them, that only through the power of God can they flee from the enemy’s snares. He has a strong zeal for outreach. As an Elder, he devoted a significant amount of time visiting prisons and witnessing on the streets to those who have drug problems. For nearly 10 years, he and his wife supported Chaplain Lena Banks at the Patuxent Institute for Women in Jessup, MD. Please continue to pray for Pastor Butler as he strives to follow our Blessed Lord. |
